Here at Monster Kid Radio, we ask Mystery Science Theater 3000 creator Joel Hodgson the hard questions about his current day job, his history with MST3k, and what he says about critics that might consider riffing less-than-respectful. Comic Book Central's Joe Stuber set up the interview, and the two of us sat down with the very gracious Joel for this episode of MKR. (And check it out - Joel even played a round of Monster Kid Radio's Classic Five!) Bill Riley, Joe Ziegler, and Jason Crutchley were at Monster Bash this June, but attendees probably know them better as Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, and Scoop Fields - The Ultimate Abbout & Costello Tribute Show! When they weren't performing nightly at the convention, they could be found interacting with the Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein display at the show, or even interacting with people in the hallways! These guys were amazing, and were generous enough with their time to sit down for an interview with Comic Book Central's Joe Stuber in which they talk about their history, how they came together, and their favorite eras and routines of The Boys. Additionally, Derek talks briefly about the soon-to-be-released Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection DVD set (and another Universal box set that might also be worth your time). The Monster Kid Radio/Comic Book Central Crossover begins HERE! At Monster Bash, Derek finally met Comic Book Central's Joe Stuber in person, but they didn't have a lot of time to just catch up. Instead, they ran around the convention, gathering interviews for this EPIC MKR/CBC Monster Bash Crash! To kick things off, Joe and Derek ease into something that's now familiar to them by talking about the next Abbott and Costello monster meet up film in their ongoing series of A&C monster movies - 1953's Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (dir. Charles Lamont). (Next time, Derek and Joe talk briefly about Monster Bash before an interview with the talented men behind The Ultimate Abbott & Costello Tribute Show!) Monster Bash wasn't just celebrities and classic monster movie stars - it was also where attendees could meet film historians and scholars. Derek had an opportunity to sit down with Gregory William Mank (The Very Witching Time of Night: Dark Alleys of Classic Horror Cinema, etc.) and Frank J. Dello Stritto (Vampire Over London: Bela Lugosi in Britain), and in this episode of Monster Kid Radio, he'll share with you the conversations he had with these two authors. Son of Ghostman was screened at Monster Bash, and ever since Larry "Dr. Gangrene" Underwood put the movie on the 2013 Monster Kid Radio Holiday Gift Guide, Derek has been eager to watch it. Not only did he watch it (and enjoy it!), he had a chance to speak with the film's director, Kurt Larson. And speaking of the 2013 Gift Guide, Derek also caught up with Edward Douglas of Midnight Syndicate. Midnight Syndicate's latest album release Monsters of Legend has been in heavy rotation in Derek's iPod, and listeners will get to hear some of this highly-recommended music on this episode of Monster Kid Radio. Want more coverage from Monster Bash? You got it! Mr. Lobo opens the show, and talks with Derek about how he got started as a horror host, as well as his involvement in the soon-to-be-released Plan 9 (dir. John Johnson). Also, when Derek isn't talking about the overall Monster Bash experience with Scott and Tracey Morris, he's sitting down to talk with filmmaker Christopher R. Mihm about his latest release (The Late Night Double Feature) and his upcoming film (Danny Johnson Saves the World) before playing a round of the Classic Five. Derek has finally made it to Monster Bash! Was it everything he dreamed it would be? (If you follow him on Facebook, you already know the answer to that!) Frequent Monster Kid Radio guests Scott Morris and Tracey Morris were also at the Bash, so the three of them talk about their first day at the convention. (They also play the Classic Five!) Additionally, Derek chats with Arch Hall, Jr. about his work in films like Eegah, Wild Guitar, and The Sadist, as well as his upcoming film Lamb Feed (dir. Michael S. Rodriguez). (Which of these films does Arch Hall, Jr., consider "feel good movies?")

As if launching Monsterverse's Bela Lugosi's Tales from the Grave wasn't evidence enough that comics creator Kerry Gammill enjoys the work of horror icon Bela Lugosi, he discusses his top three favorite Lugosi films with Derek on this episode of Monster Kid Radio. What was Kerry's first Bela Lugosi movie? And how does Bela Lugosi figure into Kerry accomplishing one of his lifelong dreams? Listen to this episode of Monster Kid Radio to find out! Kerry Gammill is a comics artist, an illustrator, and a Monster Kid to the core. In this episode of Monster Kid Radio, Kerry shares with us his background, his influences, and his monster-kid-centric past. Monster Kid Radio #106 - Chekov's Invisibility Serum: Joe Stuber and Abbot and Costello Meet the Invisible Man
1951's Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (dir. Charles Lamont) ends with a boxing match, and Joe Stuber is there to cover the in-ring action on Monster Kid Radio. This is the third Abbott and Costello Meet... film covered on MKR so far, and Derek views this one almost as highly as the film in which the boys meet Frankenstein. Joe and Derek further discuss the tropes, the cleverness, and the genius of Bud and Lou. Plus, there's Listener Feedback, the upcoming Monster Kid Radio Crash, and, of course, Monster Bash.
