It took Derek long enough to finally finish Monster Kid Radio's look at Toho's "Bloodthirsty Trilogy," but hopefully it will be worth the wait! The Haunted Cinema's Todd Brown joins the show to discuss 1974's Evil of Dracula (dir. Michio Yamamoto). This recording has been sitting in the MKR vault for months, and we'd normally say something like, "This recording has aged like a fine wine," but we also know that Dracula does not drink . . . wine. It's not Monster Kid Radio. It's Manster Kid Radio this week as artist and ceramist Jim Moore joins Derek to discuss the 1959 film The Manster (dir. George Breakston). There's just something about two-headed-monster movies that's flat out creepy cool (and apparently Sam Raimi thought so, too - listen to this episode to get that reference!). You'll be able to see Jim at the upcoming Son of Monsterpalooza convention in Burbank, CA, and you won't be able to miss him. He's the only man there with two heads! Okay, not really, but he will be the only one there with the coolest tiki versions of our beloved Gill-Man for sale! Call it Los campeones justicieros. Call it The Champions of Justice. Whatever you call Federico Curiel's film, just make sure you call it a fun time, because that's what you'll hear in this week's episode of Monster Kid Radio. Author Frank Schildiner returns to the show to kick off 2018's Lucha de Mayo as he and Derek talk about this idea to bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if they could become something more, to see if they could work together when we needed them to to fight the battles we never could. In this case, we need an assembled force of luchadors to fight the evil Dr. Marius Zarkoff in this 1971 film obviously set in a shared cinematic universe. Along the way, Derek (gently) picks Frank's brain about how he researches the period-specific details for his books, they play the Classic Five, and for some reason, 1979's The Frisco Kid (dir.
