This week, Monster Kid Radio takes a trip to 1970 when Frank Dietz joins Derek to discuss a movie starring Joan Crawford. Yes. Joan Crawford. THAT Joan Crawford. Don't get too excited, or maybe do get excited because this week's movie is Trog (dir. Freddie Francis). Plus Kenny's Look at Famous Monsters of Filmland, Professor Frenzy's Bedtime Stories, and a very special trip to Dr. Tongue's World of Monster Collectibles. What is it about Manos: The Hands of Fate (dir. Harold P. Warren) that continues to fascinate and inspire us monster kids? Is it because so many people call it "the worst film of all time"? (It's not.) Is it because somewhere inside that film is actually a really creepy story? (Maybe.) Is it because Torgo should have gone down as one of the best monsters EVER in all of monster movie-dom? (Probably not.) In this episode of Monster Kid Radio, authors Stephen D. Sullivan (Manos: The Talons of Fate, Canoe Cops vs. the Mummy) and Anthony Wendel (The Handbook for Surviving a Giant Monster Attack, the upcoming Santa Clause Conquers Manos: The Hands of Fate) join Derek to take on Valley Lodge. Plus, Professor Frenzy's Bedtime Story and Kenny's Look at Famous Monsters of Filmland. It took Derek long enough to finally finish Monster Kid Radio's look at Toho's "Bloodthirsty Trilogy," but hopefully it will be worth the wait! The Haunted Cinema's Todd Brown joins the show to discuss 1974's Evil of Dracula (dir. Michio Yamamoto). This recording has been sitting in the MKR vault for months, and we'd normally say something like, "This recording has aged like a fine wine," but we also know that Dracula does not drink . . . wine. But is the vampire in this movie REALLY Dracula? We'll find out! Plus, Professor Frenzy has another Bedtime Story for us, and Kenny takes another Look at Famous Monsters of Filmland.
