Last weekend was the 2014 H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival & CthulhuCon, and Monster Kid Radio was there! For three days, Lovecraft fans took over Portland's Hollywood Theatre for feature films, short movies, author readings and signings, panel discussions, madness-inducing parties...so basically just a really good time! Derek was a small part of the show this year as he was asked to introduce the 1968 film Curse of the Crimson Altar (dir. Vernon Sewell), as well as participate in one of the panels. Between events, Derek caught up with old and new friends, and in this episode of Monster Kid Radio, you'll hear some of those conversations. First, Derek spoke with author David Agranoff about his recent books (Boot Boys of the Wolf Reich, Hunting the Moon Tribe) and where you might find a horror host or monster influence in them. Then, Derek spoke two composers whose work has had a home on his iPod for years - Troy Sterling Nies and Reber Clark. They're two of the four composers behind the excellent album Out of the Aeons: Music for a New Dark Age. Finally, Derek checks in with Monster Kid Radio regulars Ray Jelinek and Chris McMillan for their thoughts on this year's festival.
