Monster Kid Radio - 12/30/14 - Stephen D. Sullivan's take on The Screaming Skull

That sound you hear is either the sound of a screaming peacock or the latest episode of Monster Kid Radio. Author Stephen D. Sullivan joins the show to talk about the 1958 film The Screaming Skull (dir. Alex Nicol). This film finally had a decent DVD release earlier this year, and this transfer from Shout! Factory and Timeless Media should replace every public domain copy of this spooky movie you have on your shelf. Derek catches up with Steve before talking about some of the film's players and beginning to break down the plot. Monster Kid Radio - 12/25/14 - $13.22 for Santa Claus

1959's Santa Claus (dir. René Cardona) continues to blow Derek's mind in this episode of Monster Kid Radio. While discussing some of the more bizarre elements of this movie (dream sequences and the battle tactics of the devil Pitch, just to name a few), guest Scott Morris tells us which of the two Santa films covered on Monster Kid Radio (so far) he prefers - this one or Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. (dir. Nicholas Webster). Plus, we'll hear more holiday greetings from some of the guests who've been on Monster Kid Radio this past year as well as some of the listeners. Monster Kid Radio - 12/23/14 - Joining Scott Morris on a trip to Santa's planet in Santa Claus

Derek is more familiar with René Cardona's Santo movies than his Santa movie, and that's why he's been looking forward to this week on Monster Kid Radio. Last Christmas, Monster Kid Radio regular/Podcast Legend Scott Morris gave Derek a copy of the Cardona-directed/K. Gordon Murray-distributed 1959 award-winning film Santa Claus. Derek's been holding off on watching the blu-ray until this Christmas, and now he and Scott are heading off to Santa's planet in this episode of Monster Kid Radio. Monster Kid Radio - 12/9/14 - Catching up with Larry Underwood catching up on Vincent Price

Dr. Gangrene (aka Larry Underwood) returns to Monster Kid Radio to talk about one of his favorite actors - Vincent Price. For the past few months, the good doctor has been making his way through Price's entire filmography and discussing the films as part of his The Fantastic Films of Vincent Price YouTube series. He's made it through the 40s, seen a few movies he's never watched before, and gained an even greater appreciation for Vincent Price's career. Vincent Price appeared on television near the end of the 40s  hosting and narrating an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and Derek and Larry talk about that a bit as well. In this day-before-Halloween episode of Monster Kid Radio, Derek heads to the Hollywood Theatre for a movie that was produced outside the timeframe typical of the films discussed on Monster Kid Radio . . . but it's definitely not a movie outside of our wheelhouse! It's 1987's The Monster Squad (dir. Fred Dekker), and it was a Monster Kid Radio Crash. Derek was joined by Ray Jelinek, The Shadow Over Portland's Chris McMillan, and The Recovering Ubergeek's Rick Myers. Additionally, the Countdown to Lugosiween comes to an end. You may know him as horror host Dr. Gangrene. You may know him as writer Larry Underwood. By the time you're done listening to this episode of Monster Kid Radio, you'll know him as someone who loves the 1922 silent film classic Nosferatu (dir. F. W. Murnau). Nosferatu is the earliest adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Larry and Derek talk about its genesis, its roots, and the movie itself. (And remember, if you're in the area, you can join Derek at the Joy Cinema for a screening of Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter (dir. William Beaudine). He'll be introducing the movie!) Monster Kid Radio #135 - Going 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea with Scott & Tracey Morris (plus Kodoja!)

Scott and Tracey Morris from Disney, Indiana are back on Monster Kid Radio, and it's all true. I swear by my tattoo . . . that they're going to talk with Derek about the 1954 film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (dir. Richard Fleischer). This is a Disney classic, but it's also Monster Kid Radio fodder, and as you listen to Derek, Scott and Tracey talk about the film, you'll find out why. Also in this episode, Derek speaks with writer/musician/podcaster Keith Foster about Kodoja, a comic book filled to the giant gills with kiaju action and destruction. When we think about the classic monster movie actors, we think about names like Karloff, Lugosi, Chaney, etc. In this episode of Monster Kid Radio, Greg Starrett (the co-author of Fit for a Frankenstein) is going to help us add the name Conrad Veidt to that list. Derek welcomes Greg to the show, and before they dive into a conversation about The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (dir. Monster Kid Radio #124 - What would Forbidden Planet's Robby the Robot build for Micah Bear?

"Nobody wants to kiss a slug." It's nuggets of wisdom like that that you'll hear in this episode of Monster Kid Radio. Micah and Derek continue their discussion of the 1956 classic science fiction film Forbidden Planet on the podcast, share their thoughts on the difference between science fiction movies then and now, remakes, special effects . . . and whether or not either of them really need 60 gallons of "the good stuff."

Derek is joined by Micah Bear this week on Monster Kid Radio, and he's bringing Robby the Robot with him. Micah spent part of his childhood going to the movie theater to watch classic science fiction movies with his father, and Forbidden Planet (dir. Fred M. Wilcox) became a favorite. In this episode of MKR, Micah talks about how he came to see some of these movies, and with Derek, they start to talk about the non-robot cast of Forbidden Planet. Also, Derek reads emails from Monster Kid Radio listeners.

Monster Kid Radio is due for a check-up, so it's time to check in with our friendly neighborhood doctor, Dr. Gangrene! His prescription? How about a viewing of the Vincent Price classic House of Wax (André De Toth)? Dr. Gangrene (aka Larry Underwood) cites House of Wax as one of his favorites, and not only does he tell us why, but also why House of Wax is one of the most important films of Vincent Price's career. Along the way, he and Derek talk briefly about remakes, and what they look for in a 3D film.

In this episode, Randy talks with Derek about the process of writing the play, where he found his information and inspiration, and whether or not the Karloff estate is behind the project. He was a working actor who constantly worked on his craft and gave every project his all, and Randy Bowser's upcoming one-person play Karloff will highlight and feature more than just the monster elements of this man's journey and career. This week on Monster Kid Radio, we meet playwright/actor/musician Randy Bowser, learn about his Monster Kid background, and how Boris Karloff influenced his creative path.

Monster Kid Radio #118 - Kyle Yount and the '90s Gamera Trilogy

You'll believe a turtle can fly . . . and shoot fireballs. Kyle Yount's visit to Monster Kid Radio (or should we say Kaiju Kid Radio?) continues as he and Derek talk about the 1990s trilogy of Gamera films (dir. Shusuke Kaneko). Kyle is the mastermind behind the Kaijucast, and not only is he a fan of all things Godzilla (which he plans on documenting in his upcoming documentary Hail to the King: 60 Years of Destruction), but he's also a fan of that OTHER giant Japanese monster whose name also starts with the letter G.

Monster Kid Radio #117 - Hail To The King: 60 Years of Destruction with Kyle Yount

Monster Kid Radio isn't the only monster-themed podcast in the Pacific Northwest. Kyle Yount has been talking about "Godzilla and all of his rubber-suited foes" on the Kaijucast since 2009. Since then, he's been able to do some amazing things, like introducing King Kong vs. Godzilla (dir. Ishirō Honda) at the Hollywood Theatre in 2012 for that film's 50-year anniversary. (Derek was at that screening, and it began his fandom of all things kaiju proper - thanks Kyle!) Now, Kyle has an opportunity to do something even bigger. Hail to the King: 60 Years of Destruction is a documentary produced by Kyle . . . and the supporters of his Kickstater program.

Monster Kid Radio #116 - Beverly Washburn at Monster Bash

Beverly Washburn's Hollywood history brought her into contact with many legends, and Monster Bash brought her into contact with Monster Kid Radio! Comic Book Central's Joe Stuber set up the interview, and together Joe and Derek ask Beverly about her experience with Mole Men, Captain Kirk, and a really messed up family led by Lon Chaney, Jr. Beverly was a great guest, and we thank her for spending some time with us at Monster Bash. After the interview, Derek opens up the floor for a discussion about a particular piece of news that has the potential to break the internet . . . or at least, a few message boards.

Comic Book Central's Joe Stuber set up the interview, and the two of us sat down with the very gracious Joel for this episode of MKR. Monster Kid Radio #114 - The Ultimate Abbott and Costello Tribute Show at Monster Bash

Bill Riley, Joe Ziegler, and Jason Crutchley were at Monster Bash this June, but attendees probably know them better as Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, and Scoop Fields - The Ultimate Abbout & Costello Tribute Show! When they weren't performing nightly at the convention, they could be found interacting with the Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein display at the show, or even interacting with people in the hallways! These guys were amazing, and were generous enough with their time to sit down for an interview with Comic Book Central's Joe Stuber in which they talk about their history, how they came together, and their favorite eras and routines of The Boys. Additionally, Derek talks briefly about the soon-to-be-released Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection DVD set (and another Universal box set that might also be worth your time).

The Monster Kid Radio/Comic Book Central Crossover begins HERE! At Monster Bash, Derek finally met Comic Book Central's Joe Stuber in person, but they didn't have a lot of time to just catch up. Instead, they ran around the convention, gathering interviews for this EPIC MKR/CBC Monster Bash Crash! To kick things off, Joe and Derek ease into something that's now familiar to them by talking about the next Abbott and Costello monster meet up film in their ongoing series of A&C monster movies - 1953's Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (dir. Charles Lamont).

(Next time, Derek and Joe talk briefly about Monster Bash before an interview with the talented men behind The Ultimate Abbott & Costello Tribute Show!)

Son of Ghostman was screened at Monster Bash, and ever since Larry "Dr. Gangrene" Underwood put the movie on the 2013 Monster Kid Radio Holiday Gift Guide, Derek has been eager to watch it. Not only did he watch it (and enjoy it!), he had a chance to speak with the film's director, Kurt Larson. And speaking of the 2013 Gift Guide, Derek also caught up with Edward Douglas of Midnight Syndicate. Midnight Syndicate's latest album release Monsters of Legend has been in heavy rotation in Derek's iPod, and listeners will get to hear some of this highly-recommended music on this episode of Monster Kid Radio.

Additionally, Derek chats with Arch Hall, Jr. about his work in films like Eegah, Wild Guitar, and The Sadist, as well as his upcoming film Lamb Feed (dir. Michael S. Rodriguez). Monster Kid Radio #106 - Chekov's Invisibility Serum: Joe Stuber and Abbot and Costello Meet the Invisible Man

1951's Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (dir. Charles Lamont) ends with a boxing match, and Joe Stuber is there to cover the in-ring action on Monster Kid Radio. This is the third Abbott and Costello Meet... film covered on MKR so far, and Derek views this one almost as highly as the film in which the boys meet Frankenstein. Joe and Derek further discuss the tropes, the cleverness, and the genius of Bud and Lou. Plus, there's Listener Feedback, the upcoming Monster Kid Radio Crash, and, of course, Monster Bash.

Monster Kid Radio #103 - Mitch Gonzales survives The Horror of Party Beach

Mitch Gonzales returns to Monster Kid Radio to discuss one of his favorite movies - 1964's The Horror of Party Beach. This Del Tenney-directed classic made quite an impression on a young Mitch when he first saw it on television, and it's been part of him and his work ever since. Mitch Gonzales has become the go-to man for director Christopher R. Mihm, whether Mihm needs a giant spider leg for The Giant Spider or a fiend from beyond space for his films, and in this episode of Monster Kid Radio, we'll learn more about Gonzales' background as well as his love for the monster movie-beach movie hybird, The Horror of Party Beach.

There's a giant lizard on the loose, and Scott Morris is letting Derek know all about it on this week's episodes of Monster Kid Radio when they talk about the 1959 film The Giant Gila Monster (dir. This movie is one of Scott's particular favorites - the cars, the characters, and MAYBE even the music ranks The Giant Gila Monster fairly high on Scott's list of go-to classic monster movies. And it turns out Derek ranks this one pretty high himself!

The convention was a horror writer's paradise, and Derek spoke with fellow podcaster Desmond Reddick (from the Dread Media podcast) about his experiences at the convention, and even plays a round of the MKR Classic Five. While most of the panels and content at the WHC were focused on current horror fiction, but Monster Kid Radio listeners would still have found something to do at the convention as one of the special guests was Victoria Price, the daughter of the legendary Vincent Price. Not only did she deliver an amazing presentation about her father (which listeners will hear in Episode #98 of Monster Kid Radio), but she chatted with Derek in the dealer's room as well.

Kyle Yount is the producer and host of the Kaijucast, the world's premier Godzilla-related podcast, and August Ragone has been called the best Japanese fantasy film historian working in English today. (Mr. Ragone's new book Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters: Defending the Earth with Ultraman, Godzilla, and Friends in the Golden Age of Japanese Science Fiction Film was just released, and it looks GORGEOUS!) Kyle and August presented the background of the movie - how it was conceived, its influences, the primary players in the creation of the Godzilla franchise, etc. Also, Derek completes his look at the the recent Sony blu-ray 2-disc Godzilla movie releases - Godzilla vs. Destroyah & Godzilla vs. Megaguirus and Godzilla: Tokyo S. Monster Kid Radio #093 - A super-fun time with Ray Jelinek and Infra-Man!

When Derek first started talking with his friends about about launching Monster Kid Radio, Ray Jelinek started talking about a movie he remembered seeing when he was a kid. That movie was 1975's Infra-Man (dir. Derek was a small part of the show this year as he was asked to introduce the 1968 film Curse of the Crimson Altar (dir. Vernon Sewell), as well as participate in one of the panels. Between events, Derek caught up with old and new friends, and in this episode of Monster Kid Radio, you'll hear some of those conversations. First, Derek spoke with author David Agranoff about his recent books (Boot Boys of the Wolf Reich, Hunting the Moon Tribe) and where you might find a horror host or monster influence in them. Then, Derek spoke two composers whose work has had a home on his iPod for years - Troy Sterling Nies and Reber Clark. They're two of the four composers behind the excellent album Out of the Aeons: Music for a New Dark Age. Finally, Derek checks in with Monster Kid Radio regulars Ray Jelinek and Chris McMillan for their thoughts on this year's festival.

Monster Kid Radio #088 - How realistic is The Deadly Mantis? Andy Camble tells us.

Kaiju 101's Andy Camble continues his visit on Monster Kid Radio as he and Derek continue to talk about The Deadly Mantis (dir. Nathan Juran). Andy's own podcast looks at the science of the great kaiju films, so in this episode, Derek asks him how realistic the science of The Deadly Mantis is. They also talk about the ending of the film, further talk about the models used in the movie, those beloved Crestwood House Monster books, and what Andy has in store for future episodes of Kaiju 101.

Also, the winner of the Tom Biegler The Alligator People original sculpt is announced.

Monster Kid Radio #087 - Andy Camble vs. The Deadly Mantis

This week's guest host is no stranger to giant monsters. Andy Camble is the producer of the always excellent Kaiju 101 podcast, and he's joining Monster Kid Radio to talk about a non-rubber-suited monster - The Deadly Mantis (dir. Nathan Juran). How does this film compare to other big bug movies of the time? Do birds really have a skeletal system? And what is Newton's Third Law?

Also, Ray Jelinek tells Derek why he's attending the H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival this year. (Apparently he survived last year's event!)

Monster Kid Radio #086 - Universal's Horror Make-Up Show

When Scott and Tracey Morris aren't appearing on episodes of Monster Kid Radio, they're producing their own podcast - Disney, Indiana. Recently, they visited Walt Disney World, and while in Orlando, they hopped over to Universal Studios Orlando. They dropped in on the Universal's Horror Make-Up Show and recorded the presentation for us here at Monster Kid Radio.

(And congratulations to Scott and Tracey for hitting 150 episodes of Disney, Indiana!)

Monster Kid Radio #085 - MKR Crashes Santo and Blue Demon Against the Monsters

The final installment of the 2014 Cinescopio film series happened March 20, 2014, and Derek was there. The movie? Santo and Blue Demon Against the Monsters (dir. Gilberto Martínez Solares). The event? A Monster Kid Radio Crash. Derek was joined by MKR listeners/crashers Tom Daufel, Ray Jelinek, and Chris McMillan for a night of masked wrestling, monsters, Santo, Blue Demon, a creepy little monster dude that scared Derek more than any other monster in the film, a fashion show, a panel (featuring Mega Boy and Ideal Mexican, moderated by John Cárdenas) . . . and plenty of laughs. This was an amazing night, and Derek had his recorder on hand to share the evening with the Monster Kid Radio listeners who couldn't make the show.

Monster Kid Radio #083 - Getting raw with Ed Wood and Joe Blevins

A few weeks ago, Joe Blevins (Dead 2 Rights) joined Derek to talk about the careet of Edward D. Wood, Jr., as well as some of the lesser-known Ed Wood films that Monster Kid Radio listeners might enjoy. This wasn't the first time Derek and Joe had appeared on a podcast together, but it was the first time they actually recorded a back-and-forth conversation for a show. Before diving into the "actual" recording session for Episodes 79 and 80, they warmed up with this informal conversation.

Monster Kid Radio #081 - Apparently, everyone (including Tom Biegler) thinks Beverly Garland is pretty in The Alligator People

Even though a couple of doctors seem quite taken with Beverly Garland's appearance in The Alligator People (dir. Roy Del Ruth), the film has a lot more going for it than that! Returning guest Tom Biegler joins Derek to talk about this 20th Century Fox film from 1959 that seems to have all the trappings of a Universal monster movie from the early 50s! Lon Chaney, Jr., makes a splash in the film . . . and not just because he's in the swamp with the alligators! Additionally, the Rondo Award nominations were announced this week, and Monster Kid Radio is on the ballot! Finally, Derek makes an announcement at the end of this episode.

Monster Kid Radio #079 - The career and films of Edward D. Wood, Jr., with Joe Blevins

Outside of the standards (Plan 9 From Outer Space, Bride of the Monster, etc.) or what he saw in the 1994 movie, Derek doesn't know much about Ed Wood . . . but he knows someone who does. Writer Joe Blevins joins Monster Kid Radio to talk about the career of Edward D. Wood, Jr., the path he took to get to Hollywood in the first place, and some of the truly artistic elements of Wood's films. They also look at what the Tim Burton film Ed Wood got right and got wrong. Listen carefully, and you'll hear Joe compare some aspects of a Wood-written film to Tchaikovsky.

Monster Kid Radio #078 - The Cosmic Creature is coming! Are you ready?

Filmmaker Dennis Vincent is a man on a mission . . . to make a film inspired by the 1967 "not-so-classic" Night Fright (dir. James A. Sullivan). In this episode of Monster Kid Radio, Dennis and Derek talk about Dennis' upcoming film The Cosmic Creature. The film's leads have been cast. Locations have been scouted. Music has been secured. Dennis is determined to make this movie, and if his enthusiasm doesn't rub off on you, the cosmic creature must have already gotten you!

Monster Kid Radio #077 - Meet monster kid filmmaker Dennis Vincent!

In 1967, Sheriff Clint Crawford (played by John Agar, one of the patron saints of Monster Kid Radio) saved a small Texas town from a mutant monster running amok in Night Fright (dir. James A. Sullivan). In 2013, a similar mutant monster will take another crack at the earth, and filmmaker Dennis Vincent aims to tell that tale. This week on Monster Kid Radio, Derek welcomes Dennis to the podcast to talk about his background, his previous work on the documentaries The Witch's Dungeon: 40 Years of Chills and The Aurora Monsters: The Model Craze That Gripped the World, and his upcoming movie inspired by Night Fright called The Cosmic Creature.

Alfredo B. Crevenna), aka Santo vs. the Martian Invasion. But that wasn't all! As part of the Cinescopio film series, the gang was able to watch the short documentary Viva Lucha Libre (dir. Monster Kid Radio #074 - Daniel Horne and the Fairy Tale Threads of Frankenstein

Do you know who loves the classic Universal monster movies (aside from Derek)? Artist, sculptor, and easily one of the nicest guys you'll meet at a monster convention Daniel Horne. When he's not creating one of his beautiful monster portraits or sculpting a gorgeous monster mask, Daniel watches these movies on a screen he's set up on one wall of his studio. In fact, he told Derek off mic that he actually had The Ghost of Frankenstein playing in the background while they talked about this film, their mutual appreciation for all the skilled men and women who worked to create these movies, and the fairy tale quality of all the classic Universal monster films.

Monster Kid Radio #073 - The Ghost of Frankenstein and Daniel Horne - Part One

Frankenstein's monster is an iconic image when it comes to classic monster movies, but is he outshined by Ygor (played masterfully by Béla Lugosi) in The Ghost of Frankenstein (dir. Erle C. Kenton)? Before you answer that question, listen to what Derek and this week's guest - Daniel Horne - has to say about the film! Daniel is an award-winning artist and sculptor, has appeared in the documentary The Aurora Monsters: The Model Craze That Gripped the World (dir. Cortlandt Hull, Dennis Vincent), and appears on Monster Kid Radio to talk about one of his favorite Frankenstein films. In Part One of their discussion, Derek and Daniel talk about the film's background, the cast and crew, and get into The Ghost...'s story.

Stephen D. Sullivan really likes The Son of Kong (dir. Ernest B. Schoedsack), and as his discussion about the film with Derek continues, you'll find out why! There are a number of successes present in the film (Robert Armstrong turns in a performance that rivals his performance in King Kong, Willis H. O'Brien's stop motion work is better than it has any rate to be considering the stress he was under at the time, and Max Steiner's score is just as moving as his work in the previous film) that makes The Son of Kong an underrated gem.

Monster Kid Radio #071 - The Son of Kong and Stephen D. Sullivan - Part One

Author and monster kid Stephen D. Sullivan (the madman behind The Tournament of Death 3) returns to Monster Kid Radio to talk about a classic sequel that doesn't get nearly enough love - The Son of Kong (dir. Ernest B. Schoedsack). Released just nine months after the original King Kong, The Son of Kong follows what happened to filmmaker and showman Carl Denham after the Eighth Wonder of the world had his way with New York City. Here's a hint? Denham is on nobody's favorite persons list . . . except for Derek and Steve. They love him in this movie!

Monster Kid Radio #070 - A chat with Frank Dietz (Long Live the King, Beast Wishes) Part Two & Feedback

Long Live the King - The Legacy of Kong is the new documentary coming from Benevolent Monster Productions, and in this episode of Monster Kid Radio, Frank Dietz tells us how YOU can help support the film! Long Live the King is promising to be one of the year's best monster kid-centric documentaries, and Derek is excited to share the rest of his chat with Frank about the project. Also in this episode, Derek reviews some Listener Feedback, and because we've hit more than 35 reviews in the iTunes store, we announce what new special show will be added to your Monster Kid Radio experience (which will launch once we hit 50 honest reviews in the iTunes store).

Monster Kid Radio #069 - A chat with Frank Dietz (Beast Wishes, Long Live the King) Part One & Stephen D. Sullivan's Tournament of Death

Join the crowd and join Monster Kid Radio this week to talk about two upcoming crowd-funded projects! First, artist/actor/screenwriter/filmmaker Frank Dietz joins Derek in Part One of an interview on MKR to talk a little bit about his career and background. (If you listen carefully, you might hear Derek's heart skip a beat when Frank talks about working with Julie Adams.) Frank's previous documentary Beast Wishes (which he co-directed with Trish Geiger in 2013) takes a loving look at Bob and Kathy Burns (two of the original monster kids!), and this year, he's tackling King Kong with Long Live the King - The Legacy of Kong. Secondly, returning guest Stephen D. Sullivan tells us how crazy he is when he enters Tournament of Death 3, a novel he's writing in 16 days over the course of the Winter Olympics. (Can you guess what Steve's favorite Winter Olympic sport is? Can you guess Derek's?)

Monster Kid Radio #068 - King Kong with Chris McMillan

Derek takes Monster Kid Radio back in time to one of the first Monster Kid Radio Crash events - last year's screening of the original King Kong (dir. Merian C. Cooper) at the Hollywood Theatre. Chris McMillan was also there, so he and Derek spent some time before and after the screening to talk about their history with the film and their overall thoughts. We also hear from one of our listeners/future guests about a . . . unique Kickstarter project he has in the works.

Monster Kid Radio #067 - MKR Guests, Past and Future + Feedback!

Derek reviews some feedback Monster Kid Radio has received about a movie previously covered on the show and a movie that we may cover here on the show down the line. Plus, previous guests (Joe Stuber and Rich Chamberlain), and someone I've been talking to about being a guest in the future (Joe Blevins), lend their contributions to Episode #067 of Monster Kid Radio.

Monster Kid Radio #066 - Monster Kid Radio Crashes El Santo vs Las Momias de Guanajuato - The Panel

After the movie (El Santo vs Las Momias de Guanajuato (dir. Federico Curiel) - go check out the previous episode to hear Derek and company's response to the screening), Cinescopio presented a panel featuring John Cárdenas and Enrique Caizero discussing the film, the lucha libre's time and place in Mexican culture, and what lucha libre continues to offer fans today. It was a fun and lively discussion, and hopefully will leave you wanting more (it definitely left Derek and company having a hard time waiting until the next El Santo film in the Cinescopio series next month at the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Oregon.
